Abbie, I like to use soft, lightweight cottons for these, simply because I like to reduce the bulk created when the drawstring is pulled tight. However, I have seen them made with silver cloth on the inside. Silver cloth is very thick, and I've only seen it in brown. I have been told that you shouldn't use your good scissors to cut it because it will dull the blades, but I haven't researched this to see if it's true. Thanks for your comment, Abbie! I'm glad you've enjoyed making these.

I love your design. And the idea of putting some little pockets inside was genius.I made a couple for my girlfriends and they were so excited. But I wanted to ask you: is there a fabric in particular that works better for these kind of jewelery pouches?

Hi Cheryl,

Your passion sounds like what we need. I've just come out with a high-end skin care line for us baby boomers. The entire collection will be offered in an elegant pink pouch (http://annasskincare.com/pinkpouch.html) and I want it to look something like this. The fancier the fabric - brocade - the better. Can you create bulk pouches for us? It needs to hold 5 skin care products which are in 1 and 2 oz size bottles and a 2 oz jar so jewelry size won't be big enough. Please advise. Thank you!

Brenda, as soon as I have some time I'll create a tutorial and post it here on my site. They're fairly easy to make, but it's certainly helpful to have photos to follow. Meanwhile, I'll also search for another tutorial and link to that for you.

Hello - how can I get the pattern - the tutorial is no longer working. If anyone can help me, I would really appreciate it. I have recently heard about these pouches & want to make one for myself. Thanks.

Drawstring bags are great for organizing your backpack. Put all the small backpacking gear in drawstring bags and put the drawstring bags inside your backpack.
