Thanks, everyone, for all the comments and tips! I appreciate hearing about additional supply sources, as well as how you've worked around problems you may be having with this project.

For those of you who are having difficulty finding an edge-stitch foot, there are a couple of other products that may work for you. I don't have information on all machine brands, but you can try to find something called a stich guide. Brother makes one, and probably a few other manufacturers. The photo in this link isn't clear, but it looks like a piece of metal that extends to the right of the foot, with markings for guides. I haven't tried one of these, but it looks like it might work. http://www.sewvacdirect.com/brothersa160.html

LOVE this tutorial! I have been making these key fobs for gifts and fundraisers and they are such a big hit! I do not have the edge-stitch foot and would like to get one since I've been making so many. I've had trouble finding one though - even our local Joann's could not help me. I have a feeling I'm looking for something SO simple, but over thinking it - maybe it's referred to by a different name? I have a brother VX 1120 machine -are you familiar with what I may need to buy for this particular machine? THANK YOU! This is a great tutorial :-)

You can get both the metal clamps along with the key ring from Country Brook Design for $31.95 for 100 of them - that's cheaper than buying them separately from Crafter's Vision.

I ordered my ribbon, webbing, and hardware from "everything ribbon" on Etsy. www.etsy.com
It ships from Florida, and I got it in two business days....great service and great products. Your tutorial is great, I just made my first two fobs and look forward to a way to use some of my funky stash. I did stitch down the raw ends before attaching the hardware, and yes, I used some Fray Check, too.

Hi, I've been making key fobs by myself with no instructions or whatsoever but by copying one that was given to me for Christmas. I used a silk one and it came out very good. I wasn't able to find any hardware so I used the D-rings I found in bag sections in Jo-Annes apparently, they AND Hobby Lobby don't have those metal thing. It work out very well and i just hand sewn the edges at the end of the key fob to hold the D-ring in place. It turn out well. So I was surfing the web looking for the name of the metal and stumbled upon your webpage. Very awesome tutorial. Now I know where to get them. Thanks so much.

Great tips and I am experiencing some of the same problems. Maybe this is cheating a bit, but to keep mine from pulling apart, I put a little glue before I attach the hardware. Have had no problem since.
